Your 2021 90-Day Goal: 3 Steps to Build Mental Resilience

I’ll admit – it’s pretty damn scary to reflect back on this year as we all could have never imagined this time last year where we would be today. But nonetheless, I want you to reflect on these questions below. And look ahead to 2021, which is the theme we now focus on. Always moving forward….

I think you’ll learn to appreciate what you’ve accomplished this year despite the pandemic, and realize that you might have fallen short in certain areas, but may be developed in others.

Feel free to share your reflection with me if you’d like, but I at least encourage you to do it for yourself by the end of this week.

Back on December 16th, 2019

  • Where were you?
  • Who were you?
  • What has changed?
  • What hasn’t changed?
  • And because of that… Where are you now?

Tough questions.

Now don’t dwell on the past… We must also look ahead to the positive…

Dateline: Dec 16th, 2021

  • Where do you want to be?
  • What do you want to do?
  • Who do you have to be?
  • What has to happen to fill the gap between today and then to get you to where you want to be in 2021?

You are going to need another tool in your skill toolbox….

Resilience

Your 2021 90-Day Goal: 3 Steps to Build Mental Resilience

Just because this has been a crazy year doesn’t mean we can give up, give in, or collapse like a house of cards.

We must use the weirdness to get stronger. The good news is that you are already strong. But here are a few things to remember…

1. None of these killed you

They only made you smarter and stronger because you learned valuable lessons in getting over these obstacles…

Just understand that today’s trials lead to tomorrow’s triumphs.

2. Your problems can be overcome

Because for every setback you’ve had…

Icons like Elon Musk have suffered problems 1,000 times worse… and come back stronger.

For example, on Dec 24th, 2008 Musk was on the verge of bankruptcy… having sunk his entire $110 million fortune (that he earned from selling his portion of Paypal) into his failing businesses of SolarCity, SpaceX, and Tesla…

But despite that, he kept going and turned it around because he persisted in getting one critical deal from NASA for SpaceX…

And the rest is history… all thanks to his incredible mental resilience.

So you see…

One bad day, week, month, and even a bad year is NOTHING in the grand scheme of things.

To help you build Mental Resilience I encourage you to try a few “odd” things…

Pick up a book on World War II (or some other period of struggle from the past).

Read some history. It will really help with a proper perspective. You think this is bad? Try being Jewish in 1941 and living under floorboards in someone’s attic in Amsterdam for FOUR years.

Try surviving the Black Plague where there was no “science” to help you survive…

Try foraging for food every day when you lived in a cave and were more often the “hunted” than the hunter.

This life – this crazy weird life of 2020 – is still easier than nearly any period of the past.

3. Take On a Challenge

For me, I hired a business coach, as I already had a Bodybuilding Coach, but having both Gyms shutdown for 6 out of the last 12 months, you can imagine that a business coach was a hard step for me, but I have to grow in life right?

And, for someone who absolutely hates being told what to do… and who has a big EGO and being shown my weaknesses has been one of the best things I have done for my mental resilience my businesses and my bodybuilding.

Think about the obstacles you have already overcome in life…

  • Maybe you saved a rocky marriage…
  • Survived and recovered from an awful accident and came back stronger.
  • Or even followed a strict exercise plan and diet and got into the shape of your life at some point, I think you can do it again if you so choose😊

All of those things take intestinal fortitude… persistence… and resilience.

You’ve got it in you to get through whatever life is throwing at you

If what was working in the past isn’t working today… too bad… that’s life. You’ll get through it

No one is immune to problems.

With the Gyms continuing to be shutdown into the beginning part of 2021, at least until January 4th here in the State of Washington(for now) we simply must have a plan, we have to move forward, even if that’s home workouts, working on your nutrition and balancing out the body.

You are always going to be the best project you will ever work on, but this takes a lot of WORK, patience, consistency, and setting up priorities for yourself. If you’re not happy with you, well, then, I don’t think I need to tell you how everyone else will see you if you are unhappy☹

Singularity of FOCUS

Focus stands for:

Follow
One
Consistent Habit
Until
Success

It requires you to have:

1. A Clear Vision
2. The Ability to Say NO without Guilt
3. Strict “Go or NO Go” Parameters For Action
4. A “Decision Making Tree” to Determine the Worth of Your Time moving forward.

Work on one thing at a time, establish it, dominate it, own it then on the next habit thing to move you forward in life. I’m rooting for you!

In Strength,
Coach Greg
